As the designers and developers of edTPA, SCALE regularly seeks input from the field to inform assessment improvements. We see this feedback as critical to our commitment to support programs and candidates as they implement edTPA and prepare to serve students. We are currently gathering input on how to make the assessment more user-friendly and easier to navigate, while preserving its core structure and rubric constructs.
Please note that any changes we make will not affect the reliability and validity of the established edTPA rubrics. The proposed updates focus on streamlining handbook format, directions, and prompts to increase clarity. Our primary goal is to improve candidate engagement with the educative elements of the assessment – in other words, to grow and learn from edTPA as they reflect on their beginning teaching.
